If you’re an eccentric genius who nestles a sphinx in the crook of your arm while speaking to unnecessarily large (and profoundly dumb) henchmen about your plans for world domination while hidden in your secret base, you’re still missing one amazing piece of machinery.

The Audi A8 L Security sedan is built for superior protection. The exterior appearance bares no difference from the standard A8; however, a high-security occupant cell is expertly integrated for a singularly solid unit. The material that comprises the A8 L Security is extremely tough and highly resistant: heat-formed armor steel, aramide fabric, ceramic, a special aluminum alloy, and multi-laminated glass. The majority of this is made by hand in a private, secure production zone, taking approximately 450 hours to complete.

This vehicle meets the stringent VR 7 ballistic protection standards mandated by Bullet Resistant Vehicles 2009 guidelines. In order to be VR 7 compliant, the body panels must withstand attack from sub-caliber ammunition. Certain areas of the Audi A8 L Security sedan have armor plating that fulfills standards for classes VR9 and VR10.

It is also tested against explosives in accordance with Explosion Resistant Vehicles 2010 guidelines. Audi plated the floor with an aluminum alloy that can, according to the German automaker, withstand attack by military hand grenades and explosive charges.

While protection is paramount to a super villain’s success, he can’t execute his diabolical schemes with precision when the vehicle lacks proper communications. In the Audi R8 L Security sedan, a communications box, which includes an intercom system that affords passengers the ability to communicate with the outside world when the windows are closed, is housed in the trunk.

Other protection enhancements are available, such as special pyrotechnic fracture bolts for emergency exits, a fire extinguisher system, and an emergency fresh-air system – among others.

All of this is powered by a 4.0-liter V-8 TFSI or 6.3-liter W-12.

Audi also offers specialized training for drivers and vehicle owners – in case you don’t know proper driving tactics to escape MI6 and CIA special agents.
