Audi, a brand synonymous with innovation, did not disappoint today at the 2014 NAIAS when it presented its tech-laden concept: the allroad shooting brake – all intentionally lowercase.
This two-door concept vehicle is powerful and efficient, and its odd name merely captures exactly what it is – an allroad shooting brake. It boasts a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 292 horsepower and 280 ft-lb of torque, a plug-in hybrid powertrain, and two electric motors. The motor in the rear can work independently for EV propulsion or in conjunction with the front motor in conditions that call for added traction.
The car’s battery pack provides an estimated 31 miles of EV-only driving, but, even more impressive, is that the German automaker claims a record 124 MPG.
Yes, 124 MPG.
This wide-based, aggressive looking concept took center stage today in a cool looking Ice Blue color atop 19-inch wheels.
Audi designers state that the interior is inspired by airplanes and jet engines. Its advanced steering wheel controls and 12.3-inch infotainment screen, as well as climate control knobs that extend when they sense an approaching hand, are befitting an innovative concept car.
